Please RSVP, etc., re: ANNOUNCEMENT: BAD meeting at Henry's Hunan Restaurant,
S.F. 2007-08-08

Time, date, and place are still the same as the original
announcement[1], but some key details may have changed or may be
changing.

If you're intending to come, please "RSVP yes":
To: Peter Mui <pmui at groundworkopensource.com>
  Cc: Michael.Paoli at cal.berkeley.edu
Subject: RSVP yes BAD for <number of people>

  How many people:
  Names:

RSVP required? No, but highly recommended and appreciated if you
intend to come. See also 2nd and 3rd paragraps after this one

Free dinner? No guarantees - come prepared to pay for your dinner (or
your fair share if dining "family" style), but there have been
discussions and communication, etc., with GroundWork OpenSource on
covering or potentially covering dinner for folks that show up to the
BAD meeting - at least up to some reasonable number of BAD folks (e.g.
25), and with prioritization given to those who RSVP and show up.
Note also that we're not going to go running around at LinuxWorld
telling folks where to get a free dinner or mentioning that dinner is
or might be free on materials handed out at LinuxWorld.
See following paragraph for some more background on all that.

And *how many* groups are showing up at Henry's Hunan Restaurant?
Technically "separate" meetings ... but at same time and venue - we'll
likely all be in more-or-less adjoining areas.
BAD will of course be there,
BayLISA Monitoring SIG will be there (they'll also have some guests
they've invited from/around LinuxWorld) and
BayLISA will meet there (or invite folks to meet there).
The potentially "free" (sponsored) dinner comes about mostly due to
"agreeing" to have the BayLISA Monitoring SIG also meet there - they
normally provide "dinner" (pizza and refreshments) a their meetings,
and were looking to do so at Henry's Hunan Restaurant too, ...
wouldn't be all that "fair" for the BayLISA Monitoring SIG to have
"free" dinner (there's no charge for folks to go to that SIG) right
next to BAD meeting (wouldn't want 'em "stealing" folks away from BAD
meeting in such close range) ... so there's been communication on BAD
folks getting a "free" (paid for, sponsored) dinner out of the
arrangement. Note that even if dinner is "free", beverages (except
for water and tea) aren't free in the dining arrangement that the
BayLISA Monitoring SIG has planned with the restaurant. It may mean
"free" dinner is also buffet style (with a nice selection to choose
from - but not the entire menu) ... but would allow us to meet and
greet and hob knob with BayLISA Monitoring SIG (and their guests) and
BayLISA folks. Whether, all considered, BADies will end up thinking
this, on balance, ends up working better, or not, than about 2 years
ago when we did a BAD meeting at Henry's Hunan Restaurant around
LinuxWorld (but not with any other groups meeting at the restaurant
with us), ... well, we can figure that out after the meeting. We had
about 25 folks for the 2005-08-10 meeting we did there.
I did also send/forward/cc most of the communications (or at least
some of the e-mails covering much of the "thread") to the BAD list,
so much of that can be read on the BAD list (or the archives thereof).

Keysignings? Yes. Bringing the customary "little bits of paper" and
ID advised, as per usual, if one wants to get one's key(s) signed.

Other than that, no other changes of note. See the earlier
announcement for details on location, time, directions, more about the
restaurant, etc. (also included further below).
