dovecot SSL certificate bug, and related discussion

Perhaps some readers, like me, missed this important discussion:

I have been obliviously putting my server certificates into
/etc/ssl/certs (and then indirectly via
/usr/local/share/ca-certificates) I don't know how long.  They weren't
self-signed, but still.
