... I hereby declare that there will be a Bay Area Debian
meeting on the second Wednesday of July.
WHEN: 13 JULY, 7:30 PM
WHERE:
Pacific Coast Brewing Company
906 Washington Street at 11th Street
downtown Oakland
http://www.pacificcoastbrewing.com/
WHY:
I like this place because it's closer to transit and not
nearly as noisy as some recent venues, plus it has good beer
and non-beer. It's almost Summer, so look in the outdoor
beer garden if the weather is nice.
For folks scared of the long commute to East Bay, it's
actually just the second stop past the tunnel. Closer to
downtown San Fransisco than parts of San Francisco (like the
OAK billboard used to say). Quite a bit closer than Berkeley.
And easier parking.
The rest of this is still true, I think.
> ... Highly rated beer, BART
> accessible and an open WiFi for those that crave it.
>
> Not sure about AC power though. Beware of the
> pointless java on the webpage though.
>
> ... open until midnight. Depending on the
> weather, the outdoor beer garden might be the venue
> of choice.
FROM BART AND BUS STOPS:
It's a block South and a block West of BART Oakland City
Center, which is handy given how many BART lines and bus
lines go though there. Directions on a satellite photo
(thanks google!)...

The easiest way to find it is to look for the Smart & Final
on Broadway, and to walk across its parking lot (around to
the right). PCBC is on the left.
FOR BICYCLISTS:
Embarcadero has a bike route nearly to Broadway, and then a
sort of boardwalk route. Traffic is fairly calm on Washington.

Grand and Broadway also have bike routes to nearly downtown,
but heavy traffic past that, and routes on the calmer West side
Broadway are complicated by diagonals. http://tinyurl.com/9okjs
>From Berkeley, I usually take a route West of 24/I-980, not
quite this... http://tinyurl.com/dtd3a

If driving, be aware that Washington is blocked, and 11th is
one way (West, I think).

Did I cover all the bases?
