Locked Subdirectory Problem

I installed apsfilter, and I'm able to print text
files now.  Still need some tweaking so I can print
other formats.  Somehow the subdirectory (kxp) that
contains the printer specific config file
(apsfilterrc) became locked.  I don't know how. 
Performing a Find File for kxp gives several entries. 
The one in question, in /etc/apsfilter, has a
permissions entry of 'inaccessible'.  Changing the
permissions to 777 has no effect.  Does anybody have
any thoughts about how I can unlock this subdirectory?
