Hmm, with sendmail, I think you get to define "local mailer definitions" 
or something like that, so each can be slightly different.  With qmail, if
you want to plug in procmail you just use it as the "alias empty" 
definition upon qmail startup.  See qmail-start(8) et al.  The qmail
distribution with Debian includes a program, `qmail-procmail' which does
this for procmail.
