firefox dependency

Hi all,
I am having trouble installing a package (CCP4 software for macromolecule
structure determination).
The problem is that it depends on firefox, rather than iceweasel...
There must be an easy way to resolve a problem this silly.  Can I create an
empty .deb named firefox?  Can I edit the .deb I have of the CCP4 software?
The package isn't from a repository, it's from my chemistry professor's
personal site.

What does the list think?
