I just did an apt-get upgrade on my wife's laptop (Thinkpad T20
running Debian Testing and its 2.4.27 kernel).
Suddenly, ethernet was broken. I poked my head in #debian for a bit,
did a ton of Google searching (I know very little about kernel
modules, interrupts, ACPI or much of anything that seemed important).
I decided to make her the guinnea pig and install 2.6 (2.6.8 from Testing,
specifcially).
All seems well, so far. Network works... *check!* Sound works... *check!*
_Whew!_
Last time I did a 'big' upgrade, Firefox hit 1.0 and lost a bunch of
her settings. Eep! :)
