May I propose an addendum to the Shotgun Rules:

* If somebody else proposes something you don't like, it is your
responsiblity to produce a counter-proposal.  Writing back with "I
don't like it" won't get you anywhere -- you'll just ensure that a
meeting never actually takes place.
