March 2002 BAD Meeting
----------------------
Wednesday, March 13, 2002, 7 PM
Cafe Borrone (outdoor table, weather permitting)
1010 El Camino Real @ Santa Cruz Ave.
Menlo Park
(650) 327-0830

Be BAD or be bad! Look for the Sony VAIO with a Debian bumper sticker
about as big as the entire computer.

Cafe Borrone is right at the hub of downtown Menlo Park, 1/2 block from
the town's CalTrain station. It's a busy cafe with some limited food
service (pastries, sandwiches, quiche, soups, salads) and hot caffeine
substrates -- plus wine and beer. The food is overpriced; the drinks,
tolerably priced but not cheap. There are a large number of outdoor
tables, in a plaza adjoining Kepler's Books and the British Banker's
Club (an establishment dispensing flavoured ethanol).

Closing time of both Kepler's and Borrone is 11 PM (on Wednesdays).
Minors are welcome.

Across the street, there's a taqueria (but you may not bring outside
food to Cafe Borrone's tables).

By car: From US-101, take either the Marsh Road or Whipple Avenue
exit (according to preference), westbound 1 mile to Middlefield Road.
If coming from Marsh Road, turn left (south). If coming from Whipple
Avenue, turn right (north). Proceed 1/2 mile to turn west on
Ravenswood, at the corner where Menlo-Atherton High School is. Proceed
1/2 mile west to El Camino Real, turning right (north) one block to turn
right (east) on Santa Cruz Avenue. Parking is either on-street or in
the underground parking under the plaza, with entrance on your right.

Coming from I-280: If you're not familiar with the area, make it easy
on yourself by crossing west to El Camino Real via Page Mill Road (Palo
Alto) or Woodside Road/CA-84 (Redwood City), then taking El Camino Real
north or south (respectively) to downtown Menlo Park.

If you know the area well enough to think that's dumb, then you don't
need directions. Congratulations!

By CalTrain: Exit at the Menlo Park stop, then walk 1/2 block west to
the plaza.

By SamTrans bus: Routes 83 Elder & Politzer-Marsh Manor (local),
390 Palo Alto - Daly City BART, 295 San Mateo - Menlo Park Caltrain
Feeder, 296 Canada College - East Palo Alto, KX Palo Alto - SFO - San
Francisco (express), and RX Palo Alto-San Francisco (express) all
stop nearby.

I'll be there. Will you?
