This is a cop out!
A true fact is that I watched 2 colleagues install Debian with the help of a
knowledgable Debian geek. But even after installed, it was too much for them
to try and bring completely together.
Wether this type of end result is the outcome of developers not having to
re-install or not, means nothing. These users (that are quite competent on Red
Hat) had quite a time, to the point they took Debian off their computers.
Because of this, I am trying to do my part and contribute to the gnome-apt
project. Maybe not the best solution, surely not the only one, but it is a
start to make things easier for Debian users to get updated software onto
their Debian based installs. For me it's very simple, Debian has no corporate
mindshare, it's by the people for the people, and I rather like that.

The Silicon Valley Linux User Group just met tonight. A guy spoke about his
usage of Linux on the Titanic project.
